Originally built as a private residence, the estate that stands today was constructed in the early 1920s. The owners embarked on a tour of Europe with their architect to curate antique pieces and authentic fixtures with which to fill the property, along with luxurious fabrics and materials to bring their home to life. Five years later, the opulent manor was complete, and housed the first private elevator in Dallas. The property has since hosted a number of society parties, with guests including President Franklin D. Roosevelt and Tennessee Williams.

In 1979 the property began its transformation into the world-class restaurant and hotel that it is today. Rosewood Mansion on Turtle Creek was designed to complement the original residence and opened to the public with a gala benefiting the local arts and education communities – an early indication of a strong commitment to philanthropic endeavours.

Throughout the years, modern design elements have been introduced while preserving historic details. The meticulously restored interiors, hand-carved fireplaces, marble floors and stained-glass windows preserve the estate’s original magnificence and honour the hotel’s heritage, whilst the luxury amenities, opulent spa and fitness suite allow of the hotel to blend traditional Texas with contemporary luxury. The hotel’s pool is the epitome of southern charm with magnolia trees decoratively draped around the water, while the pool bar serves cocktails such as the Texas Sunset, made with Deep Eddy grapefruit vodka. Inside the hotel, The Mansion Bar also pays homage to its Texas heritage with Southern décor and the vibrant ambiance of a refined private club. Notable hotel guests include the whole cast of the Dallas, the much loved TV show and Her Royal Highness Princess Margaret.
