Making old traditions shine anew, Elegant Hotels in Barbados has launched a wedding package add-on in tribute to the famous recipe for a successful marriage: something old, something new, something borrowed, and something blue. A perfect enhancement to Elegant Hotels’ three existing wedding packages, Something Elegant is available at all seven properties on the stunning Platinum West Coast: Treasure Beach, The House, Tamarind, Crystal Cove, Turtle Beach, Waves Hotel & Spa and Colony Club.

Something Old – A History of Rum

Couples can stroll through Barbados’ storied history of rum with a private tasting at Colony Club’s Rum Vault, the first of its kind on the island that features a collection of 150 rums from all over the world. With the help of the Rum Ambassador, couples can savour the “Taste of Barbados” rum flight and choose their favourite aged bottle to pop open – or save for the anniversary! The team can also arrange a discounted rum tour of the iconic Mount Gay Rum Distillery for groups or wedding parties.

Something New – A Creative Creation

Couples celebrating their special day can create their ‘something new’ together – with a Bajan twist! Newlyweds can paint a portrait under the wing of a local artist with a private Paint & Sip experience, or design beautiful accessories with Bajan island charms to commemorate their union.

Something Borrowed – An Island Journey

Before buckling up for the ride of their life, bride-and-groom to be can take a romantic journey across the island with the use of a luxury rental car for up to 48 hours. Before speeding off, the team will arrange a nicely packed picnic basket and island map with top sights and secret hideaways to explore. While taking in the popular beaches, couples can also ‘borrow’ sand from their favourite spot to be used in a traditional Unity of Sand Ceremony at the wedding.

Something Blue – An Ocean Cruise

No Caribbean trip would be complete without sailing through the azure sea. Elegant Hotels will provide a private catamaran for up to 20 guests with a private onboard chef to devise a custom menu. While aboard, the captain will make multiple stops to popular swimming spots along the coast. Alternatively, the catamaran can set course to popular fishing spots for guests to test their luck casting their line.

Something Elegant is the ideal complement to three wedding packages where bride and groom can wed on a stunning white-sand beach or serene tropical gardens in an intimate ceremony with family and friends. The packages include the dedicated services of a wedding co-ordinator to plan the celebration and take care of all legalities, a personalised wedding website and gift registry, welcome cocktails, a wedding cake and champagne toast. If a dazzling sunset backdrop wasn’t memorable enough, couples can opt for dramatic extras such as a steel pan drummer, guitarist or saxophonist to serenade the ceremony, an aisle peppered with rose petals and tropical floral arrangements. After dancing the night away with loved ones under the stars, the happy couple can savour a leisurely Mimosa Breakfast in Bed the morning after.
