5 Tips for Picking the Perfect Jewellery for your Bridal Party

Thinking of gifting your bridal party with a little something to say “thank you” for their help and support through your wedding planning? Why not present them with some stunning jewellery that they can wear on the day and beyond? Here, Emily Tebbutt, Jewellery Commercial Manager at Ramsdens Jewellery shares her top five tips for buying jewellery for your bridal party.

With your wedding on its way, you’ll no doubt have plenty on your mind. Whether you’re still working through dress alterations, picking your hairstyle or choosing wedding favours, it’ll be worth putting some time aside to think about your bridal party. As an incredibly important part of your big day, your bridesmaids will have planned your hen do, and will be there to welcome you down the aisle, so it’ll be nice to give them a token of your appreciation.

While some people may gift their bridal party with beautiful bouquets of flowers, choosing something they can cherish for years is a better idea. So, why not consider gifting them with some beautiful jewellery that they can wear on your big day and beyond? Here, I will be sharing my top tips for picking the perfect pieces for your bridesmaids.

Coordinate with their bridesmaids’ dresses

Brides commonly buy jewellery that their bridesmaids can wear on the big day, which means you’ll have to think about how the pieces you choose will match with their outfits. If they’ll be wearing a high neck dress, there’s no point investing in a statement necklace as this could make their whole aesthetic look a bit chaotic and distract from the beautiful dress you picked for them. Similarly, if their dresses have long sleeves, bangles and bracelets may get lost among the outfit, so sticking with rings or earrings will be a better option. However, if their dresses have lower necklines, or are Bardot style, you can afford to make the most of the bare space and choose beautiful necklaces or fancy earrings to complete their look.

Consult your wedding theme

It’s likely your bridesmaids’ dresses match with your wedding theme, but you’ll need to make sure that your jewellery also does. So, if you’ve opted for muted pink and gold décor, it’ll be a good idea to choose gold jewellery that will create a coordinated look between your bridal party and your venue.

Considering whether your theme nods to classic or modern influences can also help you to make the right jewellery choices. For example, some gemstones such as rubies and emeralds are commonly associated with older eras, while diamonds are more versatile and can work nicely for both traditional and contemporary weddings.

Make it personal

One sure way of making your gift one to remember is to make it personal. This will no doubt show the amount of thought that’s gone into the present and is sure to remind your bridal party of you whenever they wear it.

There are many options to do this, such as choosing a beautiful necklace and completing it with a dazzling initial pendant. If rings are more their thing, consider buying them one with their birthstone gemstone on for a real sentimental piece they will love wearing. You could even opt for jewellery to represent your bond, such as heart-shaped jewellery that’ll signify the love between you. However you choose to make it personal, doing so will allow your bridesmaids to hold onto their pieces as keepsakes.

Consider their personal style

If you want your bridesmaids to be able to wear their gifts for years to come, it’s important that you think about their own personal style before you go out on the search. For example, you’ll want to consider what type of pieces they typically wear. Perhaps they love experimenting with rings, or you’ve never seen them without their necklace. Once you’ve narrowed down the types of jewellery they adore wearing, you’ll have a great starting point.

Next, you’ll want to consider whether they prefer classic or contemporary pieces, and if they tend to go with subtle rather than bolder details. Again, knowing the answers to these can help you to make a great informed decision when it comes to buying something for each individual member in your bridal party.

Think about their lifestyle

As well as considering your bridesmaids’ individual styles when choosing a gift they can wear in future, you’ll want to think about their lifestyle. There’s no point in buying a beautiful ring for your best friend who works with their hands a lot, just as it won’t be a good idea to purchase a statement necklace for your sister who works in a corporate office.

So, make sure you’re thinking about what they do for work and what they do in their spare time, as this will be a good guideline of which pieces you should avoid. This doesn’t mean you have to go for completely plain pieces, but it could mean making more sensible choices. For example, selecting some interesting stud earrings will ensure they can wear their gift to work, while they’re exercising, and through the weekend.

Your bridal party is bound to be an important part of your big day, so why not thank them with some beautiful jewellery? Follow these top five tips to find the perfect piece for each of your bridesmaids.
