I’ve only ever visited Mont Blanc and its surrounding mountainscapes in the wintertime, when there’s snow everywhere and the order of the day is to ski, so when I was invited to experience L’Alpaga and take part in a ‘real life wedding’ in sunny September it was of course aresounding“I Do” from me.

My room oozed sophisticated luxe, an oasis of calm and tranquillity complemented by a rustic-chic vibe. The soft limed oak panelling accessorised with muted tones of creams and browns and added hues of alpine green and black, created an idyllic mountain retreat. Step onto the balcony and it doesn’t get any better than this, styled with rustic, comfy furniture you’re greeted by the most exhilarating panoramic views of Mont Blanc and the surrounding scenery, I knew exactly where I would be later, curled up in the chair, wrapped in a throw and sipping on hot chocolate, lost in the ambience of the sounds ofnature, never tiring of the ever changing views.
Whether you’ve had a hard day on the pistes, a stroll around Megève or explored the area on a bike ride, once back at L’Alpaga the rest and relaxation begin. Visit the spa to take a swim or spoil yourself with a massage, breath in even more of the wonderous views of Mont Blanc whilst indulging in the outdoor hot tub and sauna or grab yourself a cool glass of wine or a cocktail and sit in the sumptuous chairs on the outdoor terrace as you soak up the serene atmosphere, which is exactly what we did after venturing into Megève for a horse drawn carriage tour around the cobbled streets of this charming village, finishingoff the evening roasting marshmallows around the firepit, creating memories that’ll last a lifetime.

Using fresh local ingredients Head Chef Alexandre Bauleand his team create a ‘wedding breakfast’ fit for a King. Toasting the happy couple with only the best champagne, it really can’t get any better or so you think! The ‘icing on the cake’ (literally) is the appearance of the ‘wedding cake’ a hand-crafted creation by pastry chef Tess Evans Mialet, that’s an elaborate masterpiece and needs to be wheeled out on a trolley, impressing guests with the delicate attention to detail, it really is perfection.
As day turns into evening, the dancing begins, carefully curated cocktails are sipped, champagne corks are popped and the night sky twinkles above as guest’s revel in a unique day where memories that’ll last a lifetime have been created.
