Luxury boutique hotel Cap Maison in St Lucia is launching a special holiday for guests planning to propose to their other halves. The package is launched ahead of the 2020 Leap Year, in anticipation that some women may be planning to propose to their partners.

Working discretely behind the scenes, Cap Maison has a proposal concierge that helps guests plan the perfect setting to pop the question, with options including a romantic private dinner on Rock Maison, an ocean dining deck, or the summit of the iconic Pitons Mountains.

With candle lit lanterns lighting the night sky and the sounds of the waves, there are few places in the world which rival the unique and romantic setting of Rock Maison. Surrounded by the ocean and complete with a champagne zip line from the bar above that can deliver the engagement ring, Rock Maison makes the perfect proposal spot.

For traditionalists, the new holiday comes in time for the leap year tradition, when, on 29th February, a woman is allowed to propose to her partner. The tradition is thought to date back to the 5th century, when, legend has it, an Irish nun called St Bridget complained to St Patrick that women had to wait too long for their suitors to propose, so they struck a deal. St Patrick decreed the 29th February as the one day in every four years when women can propose.
