London Luxe

Jewel and Ron were married on 8th December 2017 at The Royal Horseguards Hotel in London.

How did you meet?

We met online.  We messaged each other for about a month. During those messages I told him once that I was going to New York for a wedding and the day I arrived in NY, he messaged that he hoped I enjoyed time with my family and the wedding.  He remembered!  I knew then that I had to make plans for a first date when I came back in town.

How did the proposal happen?

It was just a couple weeks before leaving on vacation to London and I came home from work after a long day.  He sat on the couch next to me and told me he had something to tell me with a concerned look.  He waited for my worry to settle in and with the words “I don’t think I can take this on the plane” he presented the ring box opened with my engagement ring.  It was a moment just for us.

Where did the wedding take place?

Royal Horseguards Hotel in London.  Many ask me why London since we live in the States and that’s not a “normal” wedding destination and to that I say “Give me a good reason why not?”

What the bride wear?

The wedding designer is Lazaro and it was the first dress I picked out.  I tried on others but the first one is where I landed.

What did the rest of the Bridal party wear?

Long gold sequin dresses with low backs.

What was your theme?

We didn’t really have a theme per se.  It was more of a feeling we wanted our guests to have.  London and the wedding venue gave it an old world feel.  It was very winter classic.

Something Blue?

The groom and groomsmen wore blue tuxes and I had a blue stone in the bottom of each of my wedding shoes.

What were the highlights?

The whole night was magical.  All equally a highlight.

How did it end?

Our wedding DJ is a member of one of my favourite bands and was flown in from the States. He eventually needed a break after playing hours of music for the reception.  The party ended with me, my maid of honour and bridesmaid DJing till the end of the night.  We’re huge music fans.  We loved every minute of it.

Is there anything you wish you’d done differently?

No. I don’t watch any more wedding shows which helps us not question our decisions and experiences.  HaHa!

Where did you go on honeymoon?

We left the very next day on a train to Amsterdam where we spent a couple of days at the extremely beautiful Pulitzer Hotel, enjoying shopping and the sights, including the Royal Palace, Ann Frank House and Van Gogh’s House.   It snowed enough to close stores early and shut the trains down which made it so much more special and romantic considering how infrequently it snows in Amsterdam.
